What is stop switch?

A stop switch, also known as an emergency stop or e-stop switch, is a safety feature that is designed to immediately halt an operation or activity in case of an emergency or hazardous situation. When activated, a stop switch will disconnect power to a machine, equipment or system which can prevent further damage, injury or harm.

Stop switches come in different types and designs, but they generally consist of a red button or switch that is easily accessible and visible. They are commonly found on machinery, vehicles, and in industrial settings as a safety measure to protect workers and property.

Stop switches are required by law in many industries and applications, and their use is mandated by various safety standards such as OSHA, ANSI, and CE. It is important to regularly inspect and maintain stop switches to ensure they are working properly, as failure to do so can put people and property at risk.
